June 1: Rally for Bradley Manning at Fort Meade

By exposing the truth, Bradley Manning helped end a war based on lies. Join us June 1, 2013 to rally in support of Bradley Manning at Fort Meade.

By Nathan Fuller, Bradley Manning Support Network. March 21, 2013.

This week, pundits across the political spectrum are searching for meaning in the tenth anniversary of the United States’ invasion of Iraq. The decade-long campaign of bombings and occupation left hundreds of thousands of Iraqis dead and millions wounded, displaced, or scarred. Justified with lies about biological and chemical weapons that never existed, the senseless war cost U.S. tax-payers more than 3 trillion dollars, and far more in blood and shame. Tens of thousands of US soldiers were wounded or killed, and to this day, $490 billion is owed to veterans. …

Another Hero of the Freedom Movement: Jeremy Hammond

… Villains and heroes usually switch places in historical accounts when a revolution succeeds. Today’s “insurgents,” “terrorists” and “traitors” become tomorrow’s “freedom fighters.” And today’s “leaders” and “patriots” become tomorrow’s tyrants and state terrorists. We’re in the early stages of a prolonged revolutionary struggle between self-organized networks and hierarchical institutions — a struggle in which I believe the forces of voluntary association and horizontalism are almost certain to win in the long run.  And when that struggle is won, when the Pentagon is leveled and sown with salt and the NYSE is a manure storage warehouse, people like Assange, Manning and Hammond will be remembered as martyrs of the Revolution.

Stratfor is on the side of evil and Hammond’s alleged actions against it were entirely warranted. I condemn his arrest and prosecution.

Never Surrender: Kerry Cunneen subpoenaed to the NW grand jury

I have been subpoenaed to the grand jury in Seattle investigating Anarchists in the Pacific Northwest. I was called to testify on January 3rd at 9am. I did not appear before the grand jury. I will not cooperate with this grand jury nor will I in any way aid the state in its efforts to imprison people.

I stand firmly in solidarity with the actions taken against the Nakamura Federal court house during the May Day demonstration and all action taken against the state and capital towards the goal of a more liberated society.

I am in solidarity with the May Day 5, with Maddy, Matt and Kteeo, and everyone else who has met repression with resilience. To all whose solidarity has come in some form of action, it is inspiring and must continue.

… In other words, if you choose to remain silent in a Grand Jury, you may face 18 months in jail. As Natasha Lennard, a long-time Occupy reporter, notes in her excellent continuing coverage of the case:

“The closed-door procedures are rare instances in which an individual loses the right to remain silent. As was the case with the Northwest grand juries resisters, the grand jury can grant a subpoenaed individual personal immunity; Fifth Amendment rights against self-incrimination are therefore protected, but silence is not. In these instances, refusal to speak can be considered civil contempt. Non-co-operators can be jailed for the 18-month length of the grand jury.”  …
